LM2596S for buck step down DC-DC chargers
The LM2596S module is a buck converter that converts the input voltage and current to the required values. The module can be used to power LEDs, charge batteries, etc. Can also be used as a simple laboratory power supply with adjustable current and voltage.
The module board is designed based on the LM2596S chip. The microcircuit has 8 pins and is assembled in the "TO-263" package. The LM2596S is a DC buck converter. Also on the module board there are 3 trimmers (SW1, SW2, SW3):
SW1: responsible for adjusting the output voltage
SW2: sets the allowable value of the output current
SW3: used to set the battery full charge voltage
There are 4 outputs on the module board. The IN- (ground) and IN+ (input voltage) pins are used to connect the input voltage source. To connect the LM2596S module to external devices, the output voltage terminals OUT+ (output voltage) and OUT- (“ground”) are used. The input voltage range is from 5 to 35 V, respectively, at the output of the converter from 1.25 to 30 V. There are no terminal blocks on the module board, so the terminals of the external power source and the device are connected by soldering.
The LM2596S converter board has 3 indicators:
LED 1: lights up when the battery is charging
LED 2: lights up when charging is completed
LED 3: signals the power supply of the module board
The maximum output current value is 3 A. When the load exceeds 15 W, it is necessary to install a heatsink for the LM2596S chip. The radiator is installed in a special place with metallization on the back of the chamber.
There are 4 holes for easy mounting of the module.
