MCP2515 CAN module ARDUINO

CAN module MCP2515 with SPI interface is designed to connect controllers to the CAN bus. The module can be used in car on-board computer, industrial automation, smart home system, security systems, etc.

The module board is designed based on Microchip's MCP2515 chip, TJA1050 transceiver, quartz resonator and other auxiliary components. CAN is an industrial network standard and follows the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) network model. CAN covers only two layers of the OSI model: physical and data link. The link layer provides the interaction of networks at the physical layer, in turn, the physical layer is the lower layer of the OSI network model, which is able to determine the method of data transfer between devices. The MCP2515 chip is designed to organize the interaction of networks at the physical level. The MCP2515 also receives serial combinations and then sends them. The TJA1050 chip is used as data transmission, which works on the same level with other devices.

The module is connected to the Arduino platform or other microcontroller devices using the SPI interface. Module pin assignments:

INT: interrupts
SCK: clock line
SI: data line from microcontroller to module chip
SO: data line from module chip to microcontroller
CS: chip selection
GND: ground
VCC: supply voltage 5V
The board has a pin connector J3, which duplicates the contacts of the output interface terminal block. To suppress the reflected signal, you must install a jumper on the pin connector J1.

Please note that for the module to work properly in the Arduino IDE, you must install the library for the 8 MHz crystal version.

Power is supplied from the Arduino platform or other microcontroller device. The module supply voltage is 5 V.
